Man with knife threatens Kent village shop assistant

Kent Police report a Matfield resident has been charged and is to appear at court following an attempted robbery at a Goudhurst shop.

On Tuesday 18 February 2020, Kent Police received a report that a man with a knife had entered the High Street premises and then threatened a shop assistant.

It was alleged he had demanded cash from the till before leaving empty handed.

Later that day, a 29-year-old man was arrested in Paddock Wood. He was charged the following day with attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The accused from Matfield was remanded in police custody to appear by video-link before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 20 February.
